Community of Practice on Tax Expenditures - 2nd Meeting
Building on the success of six regional workshops held across West Africa, East Africa, and Asia from 2022 to 2024, the Addis Tax Initiative (ATI), in collaboration with the Council on Economic Policies (CEP) and the German Institute for Development and Sustainability (IDOS), through their joint Tax Expenditures Lab, have recently launched a Community of Practice (CoP) on Tax Expenditures (TEs) to continue contributing to the global debate on improving tax expenditure governance.
The regional workshops on tax expenditures fostered capacity building, knowledge sharing, and regional networking among officials from ministries of finance, revenue authorities, and parliaments on issues related to TEs.
The Community of Practice (CoP) serves as a platform for ATI partner countries and interested stakeholders to exchange ideas on TE estimation, evaluation, reporting, and reform. The goal is to strengthen TE governance by leveraging collective expertise across sectors.
The first meeting, held on 24 October 2024, offered a high-level overview of tax expenditure governance and highlighted two insightful presentations from Liberia and Indonesia.
In the second session, we will focus on tax expenditures reporting, featuring expert insights and case studies from ATI partner countries. Presentations will highlight best practices, lessons learned, and key challenges in this critical area.
