GFI INCREASING DRM BY PROMOTING CORPORATE NATURAL RESOURCE AND PROFESSIONAL INTEGRITY UGANDA

Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE) will continue to take lead on stakeholder engagement and publsihing Beneficial Ownership (BO) legislation resorces including fact sheets and legal analyses that can be used in advocacy efforts targeting the governmen privat sector civil sector and journalists. Following the passage of the Mining and Minirals Bill in 2021 ACODE will focus on monitoring its implementation and publish a report mapping supply chain issues that that limites DRM in the mining sector. With support from The Southern and Eastern Africa Trade Information and Negotiation Institute (SEATINI) ACODE will also engage with stakeholders in natural resource and trade integrity issues and publish fact sheets policy briefs and tax gap analyses to understand the loss of domestic revenue mobilization in UgandaTransparency International Uganda (TI U) will lead GFI's work on professional integrity in Uganda. This work includes the scoping of regulations and professional standards for gatekeeper professions professional enablers. TI U's advocacy efforts will focus on the publication of media friendly factsheets to educate stakeholders as well as organizing meetings with government the private sector civil society and journalists tohighlight the role of professional enablers in facilitating illicit financial flows. TI U will further have asupporting role in our work regarding corporate transparency in Uganda. TI U will focus on beneficial ownership as it connects to the real estate sector producing a report and fact sheets on the issue and engaging with stakeholders to raise awareness for the issue of illicit financial flows in the real estate sector in Uganda.
