TAX ADMINISTRATIONS CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT PHASE 2 SWEDISH TAX AUTHORITY

The contribution is the second phase in a project that the Swedish Tax Agency (STA) is implementing together with the tax authorities and finance ministries in Bosnia Herzegovina (BiH). The first phase was completed in 2017 2021. The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the capacity within the participating institutions to contribute to modern trustworthy and helpful tax administrations in BiH. In the long run the project aims to prepare BiH for reforms within the tax system and its institutions in order for the country to approach EU membership. The project works in a number of different areas where experts from STA train and exchange experiences with colleagues from corresponding BiH authorities. An important aspect of the project is creating contacts between authorities and institutions in BiH in order for them to exchange information and collaborate more and better. This is crucial to harmonize the tax systems in the country which is a prerequisite for EU membership. The areas within the project works are ranging from improving service and attitudes towards taxpayers to more technical areas such as pre filled declarations and international cooperation in the area of taxation.
